One of the newest internet memes is the Stocking. The stock and microstock photography sites like Getty, Stockfresh or iStockPhoto are well known sites, where professional or amateur photographers can submit their works for distribution. These sites are also useful for bloggers and journalists to buy excellent quality images to illustrate their posts or articles.
Basically the Stocking is about you choose a stockphoto and try to rectreate it. There is blog dedicated to this meme, called Stocking is the new Planking, reffering to another popular meme from last year, called Planking.
By the steadily expanding market for stock photography an ironic appreciation for stock photo cliches become widespread with "Women Laughing Alone With Salad" was posted on Hairpin. This turned quickly into a viral spreading when it was posted on BuzzFeed, Gawker and Matefilter. The woman with salad was instantly followed bí „People Kissing Computers Alone”, „Woman Proud Of Teir Two Apples” or "Women Struggling to Drink Water.”
